Hmm. very good job. I would like to see your take on a "chevaline" -- a serious, ridable all-terrain utility horse robot -- term imagined by Neal Stevenson in his novel "The Diamond Age." I have been thinking vaguely about what a chevaline with camouflage, designed for reduced signature when in lower tech societies than the civilization that sent the explorer or undercover scout who has been issued the chevaline. The version I imagine has legs that can bend down all the way to the ground and then deploy retractable banded tracks inside the whole length of the leg. Rich people can get fancy and "steampunk" kinds of chevaline. I imagine those ones can have beautiful wood inlay, shell inlay, lacquer, inlaid wires, gold leaf, jewels, etc. I have some fancy foreign horse figurines. They inspire what I imagine the chevaline could look like. Mr. Stevenson imagines chevaline that fold down to a squared-off shape, and have storage compartments. They are not imagined by Mr. Stevenson to ordinarily carry weapons, and they are readily available to middle-class people, but in cheaper versions.

I like the design a lot and it's well rendered too. Is that mental ray, final gather?

The dark, shiny texture looks very good. I think thats the best color for the vehicle.

That's a very groovy render, indeed. Lovely job on the textures and the shine; it looks very nearly like a real photograph of a robot.

The colour choice couldn't be more fitting. Excellent work, hope you're able to keep up such quality.

Cheers,

this is really cool :) the design is awesome, and i love how menacing the profile is. the only thing that looks odd is the way the fingers are stretched perfectly straight... they look like they're floating a bit above the ground rather than leaning on it.

is there some background story to this character?
